The Return
I'm back! We are so back!
Anyone who's been following my posts for this game must be very surprised to see this announcement! Well so am I!
This was not a planned return. I have been bouncing around a dozen new game projects the last couple of months, trying to find something "smaller" and "less ambitious", but few - except Vanguards which is going to be shelved for a little bit, have actually shown enough promise or given me enough motivation to commit to in my spare time.
But the other day, I had come to a conclusion: Derelict had never left my mind, and it was silently distracting me from committing to any new game ideas.
So, I folded, and started remaking Derelict... from scratch!
...that's right, the attached Dev footage is of my new prototype for the game, made from scratch in Godot 4.4.
The Unity prototype is now abandoned and archived only for reference, and only in about 14 hours of coding, I have gotten to about 50% halfway to recreating all the functionality of the original prototype, which is far faster than I could've predicted.
For the first time in a while, I am full of genuine hope and excitement for fully pursuing Derelict!
Expect more posts in the future, and maybe someday some development commentary!
Thank you for reading and happy Easter to those who celebrate!
